Mission Statement

The Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 2 was established to provide financial stability for the Heislerville Volunteer Fire Company. The Commission contracts with the Heislerville Volunteer Fire Company to provide funds collected through special district taxes. The goal is to provide the community with trained fire and emergency services.

Responsibilities

The responsibility of the Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 2 is to purchase and maintain equipment needed to provide professional fire and emergency services, as well as develop and oversee the special district budget.

Meetings

The Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 2 holds monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m at the Heislerville Volunteer Fire Company. The meetings are open to the public. Advertisement of legal notices and meeting notifications are published in the South Jersey Times. Monthly agenda items include approval of minutes and bill list, correspondence, chief’s report, old business, new business, committee reports, and other items for the good of the Commission.

Electoral Appointment

The Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District Number 2 holds an annual election for the position of Fire District Commissioner(s) and Budget Approval on the third Saturday of February. If anyone is interested in filing a petition as a candidate, you may contact the Boards Secretary for a petition. This petition must be turned into the Secretary no later than 28 days prior to the election.

Vendor Information

Maurice River Township Board of Fire Commissioners, District Number 2 annually contracts with Heislerville Volunteer Fire Company to provide fire suppression services. The contract amount for calendar year 2022 is $60,000.

Heislerville Volunteer Fire Company is the only vendor/entity to which payment is made that exceeds the purchasing threshold of $17,500.
